Elegant pearl wedding cake

October 16th, 2014

Koala Cakes

This spontaneous 3tier pearl wedding cake was for Katherine who got married at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond park London.

Elegant bridge wanted to have simple but unique wedding cake to serve 100 guest invited.

As it was a simple Pearl wedding cake, I wanted to kick it up a notch and make it a bit more unique and decadent and I opted to add additional cake boards inbetween each tiers which had brought the cake not only taller but spacious as well  to let the tightly arrange pearls to breath out their elegance.

Elephant christening cake

October 16th, 2014

Koala Cakes

Kat had her son Joshua’s Christening party at a wonderful venue called Sheen mill at Cambridgeshire.

She had exact design in her mind and all we need to do is fulfil her expectation.

We have made similar design for Lucy’s 30th birthday so she knew what she was going to get.

So maybe I have a thing for Pale blue colour, but they’re just so pleasing.

This cake was all about cuteness of the elephant and pale blue/grey colour combination brought elegant atmosphere of the entire cake.

Please visit our gallery for more elegant cakes to look at 🙂

Conde Nast Brides magazine

December 11th, 2013

Koala Cakes

Last month Koala Cakes got a phone call from Condé Nast UK.

We were surprised that such as big company like Conde Nast called a small local cake company in Cambridge who haven’t made any advert yet at all.

They have googled and found us to offer a space for a advertisment. ( it is really hard to get a space there  ) It was such amazing feeling for a small company like us.

It was an opportunity to showcase our beautiful cake designs on a specific advertorial page ‘Tiers of Joy’, within their upcoming Christmas Issue of Condé Nast Brides magazine.

As you may know,  Condé Nast Brides is  The UK’s 1st bridal magazine which any brides or ‘brides to be’ owns even one issue, reaching a massive 326 000 readers per issue on average. It is the most glamorous, inspirational and authoritative title in the market.

It will be the January/February issue, on sale for 2 months (from 2nd December – 31st January) so we are expecting as well as being perfectly times to capture the attention of newly-engaged women, but also bound with highly anticipated annual supplement The Wedding Planner, therefore this is a unique opportunity to ensure Koala cakes has possibility to help and plan their 2014/2015 wedding!

Ocean Rose Wedding cake

December 11th, 2013

Koala Cakes

Emma and Tim had their first step on How Caple Court in Herefordshire on August summer day.

Emma just gave us the theme of Ocean Rose and let us do everything and suprise her on the day.

It was a pressure but on the other hand it was quite a thrilled project to do.

We wanted to make a cake to stand out but not to stand out too much at the same time, to blend well into the venue and represent the bride’s elegant.

This is a real traditional style wedding cake but contemporary at the same time.

Touch of pale green leaves supported the dusky pink and lilac roses well. Cake pops helped the balance of extremely different height between cupcakes and 3tiered cake.

Please visit our Gallery to check out more wedding cakes what we have done.

Herefordshire Country wedding photography was there to make Emma and Tim’s day memorable.

Digger birthday cake

July 16th, 2013

Koala Cakes

Jamie is digging!!

Kids and adults both loves chocolate & Manely stuff so why not give them a little treat?

Last week we have got to create this  fun project, that it was not just ordinary soomth fondant cover, it had to be Rough! Tough! Scruffy! and Dirty!

We actually bought a Digger toy to make the details right!! Yes we are enthusiastic!

It was a triple Chocolate cake with actual melted chocolate ( we didn’t use cocoa power ) and Chocolate chips.

Rich and smooth and really chocolatey!

When the cake had cooled down, we have cut the top crumble bits off and left it aside to use it later for messy effect.

Poured over Chocolate ganash  roughly again for the messy look and drizzled honey over the crumbles to make sure they stay together and also for real look of the muds.

so who wants a digger messy triple chocolate birthday cake

Cricket birthday cake

July 14th, 2013

Koala Cakes

Cricket birthday cake for my lovely father-in-law.

He is a big fan of Cricket so my husband Hugh and I decided to do a Cricket theme for his 61st birthday.

So I baked, and Hugh bought  Ashes cricket match ticket. It worked quit well with the Ashes game, actually.

I should have made this on his 60th last year, but I wasn’t the family then. 🙂

I made him as an umpire which he is qualified for his 3 boys when they were young to teach them properly. ( So sweet of him )

I have picture of him posing as same as mini dad, giving himself a 6! but for his privacy will keep the picture for myself haha

Love you dad, and Happy birthday!!

Hendo cupcakes – Burlesque theme

June 7th, 2013

Koala Cakes

Emma is getting married to Tim at How Caple Court on 10th of August 2013.

I got mission to make her 3 tiered wedding cake with cupcakes in Lilac + Dusty pink colour theme.

But beforehand, needed to accomplish her Hendo cupcakes first.

She loves Moulin Rouge, and her Hen party was Burlesque theme, I couldn’t miss to make a sexy corset.

She loves elegant  flowers and pearl which is her wedding cake theme, I wanted to give her a little taste of the it.

At last, how could rude ‘Willy’ be missed in Hendo party!

But unfortunately, as it was so rude and realistic ( as you know my style on making figues :)) I couldn’t publish on my webpage.

So if you want to see it, I will make for your Hendo party!! 🙂
